Phil Campbell and Hackleburg should have new high school facilities in approximately 18 months. Work started last week on the clearing for the new structure in Phil Campbell and work was started in December in Hackleburg. These new facilities will replace the buildings heavily damaged by the tornado on April 27, 2011.
Hackleburg students will continue to use portable classrooms until the new school is completed. Phil Campbell students have been using portable class rooms and the Phil Campbell campus of Northwest-Shoals Community College.
Plans call for the new schools to be available for occupancy at the beginning of the 2014 school year or by January of 2015 at the latest.
