Haleyville is getting a new leaf machine to replace the current unit. The City Council Monday morning accepted the Sampson Equipment bid of $30,989. Councilmember Bud Wilson said, “The one we've got is getting to be 11, 12 years old and has a lot of wear and tear; and, we're spending quite a bit of money on upkeep.” The new lead machine should be delivered within 120 days.

The Council accepted two bids, both for paving: one at the North Industrial Park and one at the 26th Street sink hole in front of The Cave. The projects now await ALDOT approval to proceed.

Change orders to airport improvements were approved: one involving the re-skinning of the hangar and the other for entrance road, parking and drainage work.

The Council approved the installation of four new street lights: two at the intersection of AL195 and 30th Street and two on 30th Street between AL195 and Littleville Road.

Bruce Hood was hired as a part-time, as needed, firefighter.

The Council appointed George Kruto (expires October, 2013) and Sharon Boyles (expires October, 2016) to the Library Board.

The next meeting of the Council is Monday, December 17, at City Hall.
