Bank Card Scam by Text

THIS MESSAGE MAY APPEAR ON YOUR CELL PHONE:

BANK ACCOUNT ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTlVATED. Please call 205-378-XXXX.

At least two banks in Haleyville have reported their customers had received a text message that imply their debit card had been compromised. The text instructed them to call or respond with information such as the debit card number. The sender was attempting to gain access to the account, information which would allow their use of that card. Local bank officials of Traders and Farmers stated if you receive this tye of message, please ignore them, Notify your bank, and follow their instructions. If you have responded to such a text message with any of your information, please notify your financial institution immediately.
