Alcohol Sale Approved by Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday morning, with all members present, and approved the October general operation bills for $441,269.55. After hearing from a couple of citizens, one for, one against, the city approved the sale of alcohol for Cabos San Lucas #2. With this action, the restaurant should be able of receive final approval from the state ABC board for a license. Plans are for the restaurant to open soon. It will be the first to serve alcohol in a downtown location.

The Council also approve advertising for bids for 96-person storm shelters. Grant money has already been approved for the additional storm shelters. Other items approved included an airport improvement grant application for $126,279, advertising for a new leaf machine and a monument for the 115th Battalion in front of city hall. Alcohol Review Committee appointments (3year terms) were made by reappointing Lee Hagedorn and appointing Jeff Noble to replace Boo Haughton. 

Mayor Ken Sunseri hired Jonathan Thompson, as a temporary/seasonal employee at the Street and Sanitation Department at $9/hour. The next scheduled council meeting will be Monday, December 3, 11 a.m. at city hall.
