The City of Haleyville has been awarded a grant for a third tornado safe room. The Alabama Emergency Management Agency notified the City last week that the project near the girls' softball field and Neighborhood Facility Building has been approved for a FEMA grant.
This is the third tornado safe room project awarded to the City. The first two were approved in September and will be constructed near the Scout Hut and the Senior Center. A fourth application for a room near the airport is pending.
