Steve Stott won re-election to Place 3 on the Haleyville Board of Education Tuesday, defeating Gary Warren in a runoff election, 720 (65%) - 379 (35%).

Tuesday night Stott said, “I'm excited to serve the people, students and faculty of the Haleyville City Schools again for another six years.” School Board terms change in the Spring.

The runoff was forced after no candidate received a majority in the August 28 General Election. In that election, Stott received 720 votes, the exact number he received in Tuesday's runoff. Warren had received 490.

When Tuesday's result was posted, Warren congratulated Stott before leaving.

The Board election actually began in July with candidate qualifying. The three-month process is now complete. In response to how he felt when he awoke Tuesday morning, Stott replied, “I was glad that October 9 was here and this was going to be the day this would be over. I'm just ecstatic right now. I couldn't be any happier.”
