"Whether serving as a teacher, the director of the Career Technical Center or a member of the state school board, Gary  always strove towards the goal of ensuring all students, regardless of who they were or where they came from, had an opportunity to succeed and become good productive citizens. Gary has always truly put the needs of the students first.

In addition to the role Gary has played in the lives of so many young people, he has also been dedicated to improving the community in which we live. He has served as the director of the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce and has also successfully worked on many projects to promote economic growth and stability for our community for many years to come.

It is clear why Gary’s former students, colleagues and friends uses words such as, mentor, sounding-board, dedicated, motivated and friend to describe him.

Gary Warren is truly the epitome of what the Alumnus of the Year award represents."
