Tuesday Night Pickers meet every Tuesday evening at 6:30 P.M to play classic country and gospel music. Gary McDonald is the lead guitar player, Lesley McDonald is the bass guitar player, and Leesa McDonald is the drummer. Plus, there are several more regular guitar players and singers performing their favorite songs. We want to invite everybody to come out to the American Legion every Tuesday evening at 6:30 P.M and enjoy some good music played by local talent. The admission price is two dollars (($2.00) a head. This charge is to cover the cost of rent for the American Legion building and the electricity that we would use. (No alcoholic beverages allowed and no cursing allowed.)

A two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, has claimed the life of a Haleyville man. Rafael D. Marchen, 55, was fatally injured when the 2009 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle he was operating collided with a 2014 BMW Mini Cooper driven by Timothy O. Hamilton, 54, of Parrish. Marchen was transported by helicopter to the Huntsville Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The crash occurred on Alabama 33 near the 20 mile marker, approximately five miles south of Moulton, in Lawrence County.Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

With Ray Boshell and Boo Brooks attending by phone, with Mayor Sunseri absent, Drew Thrasher, Mayor Pro-Tem, presided over the Haleyville City Council meeting Tuesday morning, July 19. The meeting was rescheduled from Monday in order to certify the results of the Haleyville School Board.

The Council approved the June general operation bills and purchase orders in the amount $711,163.81. Also approved a resolution pertaining to he Opiod lawsuit settlement, which can be see below. The next scheduled Council meeting will be Monday, August 1, 5:0 PM at the Haleyville City Hall.

QUAD CITIES POST – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. Saturday, July 2, has claimed the life of a Russellville teen. The crash occurred when the 2018 Toyota Corolla in which the 17-year-old was a passenger, struck a 2017 Ford F150 driven by an 18-year-old Town Creek resident. The 17-year-old was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, Samuel Matias-Francisco, 20, of Russellville, another juvenile passenger, and the driver of the Ford were all transported to area hospitals for treatment. The crash occurred on Alabama 24 near the 43 mile marker, approximately eight miles west of Moulton, in Lawrence County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.  – ALEA

The Haleyville City Council met on Monday, June 6, 2022.  Resolutions up for approval were the 2021 Airport Improvement Project (Resolution #2022-21), Walking Track Repairs at the Haleyville Sports Complex (Resolution #2022-22), Culvert Replacement on 14th Avenue and in the Brookhaven Subdivision (Resolution #2022-23), paving the area behind the stage at The Heart of Haleyville Park (Resolution #2022-24), and acceptance of a bid for Winston County Road 90 Improvements (Resolution #2022-25).
