• Haleyville Airport to Receive Funds

    The Posey Field Airport in Haleyville will receive $212,790 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and $11,821 from a state grant to rehabilitate the southeast hanger. The City of Haleyville will provide $11.822 in matching local funds for a total value project of $236,433. An avaiation based business is epected to utilize the facility in the future.

     

     

  • Nauvoo Man Killed in Crash

    HAMILTON POST – A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:29 a.m. Thursday, July 25, has claimed the life of a Nauvoo man. Joseph K. McLendon, 56, was fatally injured when the 1986 Yamaha FZ600 motorcycle he was operating left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. McLendon was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on New Oak Grove Road near Busby Church Road, approximately two miles southeast of Nauvoo, in Walker County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
