  • HHS Advances in State Playoffs

In round three of the state playoffs, the Haleyville High Lions baseball team scored two impressive wins in a doubleheader Saturday against Hokes Bluff, a team formerly rated the number one 4A team in the state. In the first game, Haleyville won 2-1 and the second, it was 16-1. Hokes Bluff fell victim to the new Alabama High School Athletic Association’s rule limiting how many innings a pitcher can pitch. The Hokes Bluff bench was just not deep enough to sustain their effort against Haleyville. The wins Saturday means Haleyville advanced to round four of the playoffs with a doubleheader this Thursday at home against Madison Academy at 4:30 and 7 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday if needed. From this point on, Haleyville will be playing only private schools as all the public schools, except Haleyville have been eliminated. Support the Lions this Friday on our home field and listen to the play-by-play on Paradise 92.7 with David Albright and Tyler Hallman. – Photo – Dr. Jerry Harrison
