Local Effect of Political Changes? By HBTV Friday, November 26, 2010 | 12:00 AM

Two changes are in store for lawmakers in Montgomery come session time in March, other than Republican control, that may have an impact for the Haleyville area.

Sen. Roger Bedford (D-Russellville) has been selected the Democratic Leader in the Senate. Beford's Senate district includes Haleyville.

Rep. Mike Millican became (R-Hamilton) instead of (D-Hamilton) when he switched parties. His House district includes Haleyville.

Winston County's representation in Montgomery is now Republican, 5; Democrat, 1; and the sole Democrat is now the Senate Minority Leader. Prior to the November election, Democrats had the edge, 4-2.
