Reinforced concrete I beams were trucked through Haleyville this past week on their way to the new bridges being built over the Norfolk-Southern railroad north of Phil Campbell on the new Highway 13 four-lane. Recent good weather has helped both bridge construction projects, including the bridges over Bear Creek Lake.

One end of the beams are firmly attached, the other "floats" on a rubber pad, allowing for expansion in the summer and contraction during the winter.
