Looking south from Phil Campbell the initial work referred to as cut, grade and drain has been completed on the first segment of the project to relocate Highway 13. Work on two sets of bridges on the first section will take over a year to complete. Work on one additional set of  bridges over Gas Branch Creek on section one has not been started.  The new highway is not paved and will not be until section two, from Franklin County Highway 79 to Highway 195 at Wal-Mart is completed. Plans are to pave and open the first two sections into Haleyville. The road will not be completed and opened for traffic to Haleyville until after 2015.
