Work is well underway on two of the three sets of bridges required for the first section (Spruce Pine to Franklin 79) of the new four-lane Alabama Highway 13. The relocation of the highway, often referred to as the Haleyville By-pass, has been in the planning stages since 1956. It is now becoming a reality. Purchase of right-of-way for the second section (Franklin County Road 79 to Highway 195 next to Wal-Mart in Haleyville) is slated for 2013 with actual construction in 2015. Thanks to M.L. Weaver for providing his aircraft and piloting for the aerial shots.
