Council Enacts Alcohol Ordinance By Glenn Collins Tuesday, August 17, 2010 | 1:00 AM

The City Council enacted the Alcohol Ordinance Monday night at its regular meeting, bringing Haleyville one step closer to alcohol sales. With enactment now complete, the Council appointed Lee Hagedorn, "Boo" Haughton, and Jade Bice to one, two and three year terms, respectively, on the newly created Alcohol Review Committee. With the City's notification to Montgomery, the ABC Board can begin the process of issuing licenses. The new committee will review all potential licensees and make recommendations to the council.

In other action, the Council accepted the terms of the Alabama Armory Commission for the transfer of the old National Guard Armory and property to the city; hired David Todd Seals for the Street and Sanitation Department; amended an ordinance to add to the city's bank signature card; approved administrative services fees to NACOLG pertaining to the police car grant; and changed its September 6 meeting to September 7.

The next regular meeting of the council will be Tuesday, September 7, 7 PM, City Hall.
