Harris Wins Primary By Glenn Collins Tuesday, June 1, 2010 | 11:06 PM

Rick Harris won the Republican Primary and will face Sheriff Ed Townsend in the General Election on November 2. No one received a majority in the County Commission, District 2 Seat, and David Cummings will face Randy Tucker in the July 13 Runoff.

Harris captured 3,299 votes, 53.4 percent of the votes cast, defeating Mike Clark, 1,469 votes, 23.8 percent, and Stephen Painter, 1,414 votes, 22.9 percent, and avoiding a runoff.

In the race for the District 2 seat on the County Commission, Tucker led with 1,259 votes, 38.9 percent of the vote, followed by Cummings with 1,103 votes, 34.1 percent. Jerry Mobley finished with 872 votes, 27%.
