A single-vehicle crash at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, has claimed the life of a Brilliant woman. Johnna Marlane Gibbs, 18, was killed when the 2013 Hyundai Sonata in which she was a passenger left the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.  Gibbs, who was not using a seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.  The vehicle’s driver, a juvenile, was transported to Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  The crash occurred on Alabama 129 near the 29 mile marker, two miles north of Brilliant. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
