Haleyville's Post 4543 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars recently honored four local fire departments in remembrance of the lives of first responders lost on September 11, 2001 in the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. Post commander, Dwight Thomas, opened the ceremony with a speech reminding the attendees of the risk taken by our first responders each day, not only in New York and D.C. but right here in our own communities. As a gift, Post 4543 presented cases of water to each of our local departments for use at scenes.
