During halftime of Friday's HHS vs. Fayette game, former Lady Lions standout pitcher, Holly Ward, was recognized as last year's Alabama Gatorade Softball Player of the Year. Ward was selected after leading the Lady Lions to two state championships, runner-up, and third place finish at the Alabama High School Athletic Association Softball State Tournaments for the past four years. Ward is now a freshman at Mississippi State University and will be pitching for the Bulldogs.
