Jeremiah Castille Football Banquet Speaker By Harold Bearden Monday, January 25, 2010 | 12:17 AM Jeremiah Castille, who became a professional football player after playing on the last team coached by Paul "Bear" Bryant, gave a very inspirational speech to the HHS football team. In 2002, he returned to the University of Alabama to encourage and inspire student athletes to be better men and women through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He challenged the HHS athletes to become role models.

Reestablishing an old tradition, the Haleyville Lions Club hosted the annual HHS football banquet with recognition of the 2009 football players and cheerleaders. Awards included: Captains: Drew Whiteside, Destin Dye, and Jud Sherrill; Most Improved Player: D.J. Terrell; Meanest Lion: Jud Sherrill; Bandit: Brett Bryson; Scout Team: Spencer Woods, Drake Whitten, Bobby Lee Long, Avery Clark, Earl Frank Walker, and Drew Whiteside.
