There was a one vehicle accident on State Highway 13 South, north of the intersection of Winston County Road 17, Wednesday afternoon around 2:00. Vernon Cummens was traveling south on Highway 13, lost control of the older model Chevy truck, and left the roadway before coming to a stop about 300 feet into the brush on the shoulder of the road. The Haleyville and Delmar Fire Departments responded to the scene and freed Cummens from the vehicle, and the Haleyville Police Department provided traffic control. He was transported to Lakeland Community Hospital by ambulance. The accident is under investigation by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
