County and City Work to Resolve Flooding By Sam Poe Tuesday, March 11, 2014 | 12:03 PM

The Winston County Commission and the City of Haleyville have been working diligently to solve the drainage problem at the intersection of State Highway 13 North and Dime Road. This has been a problem area in the city for many years, but officials are working to correct the issue.

The City of Haleyville, with assistance from the Winston County Commission, has cleared the ditch to ensure there is nothing obstructing the water flow.  County Commissioner David Cummings and Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri are working closely with ALDOT officials to take the next steps in this process to make travel safer for Winston County citizens during hazardous weather situations. Mayor Sunseri stated, "This has been a problem at that intersection for many years. The city has done everything they can, and we are waiting on the state to do its part to disrupt the flooding issue."
