City Will Purchase Loss of Sales Tax Insurance By Glenn Collins Monday, December 17, 2012 | 6:12 PM

The Haleyville City Council on Monday took a step to ensure that loss of sales tax revenue will not be an issue in the event of a disaster. The Council voted to purchase insurance from the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation that will cover loss of sales tax revenue up to $1,825,795. The premium is $6,390.

The City will advertise for bids for two new “police package” cars for the Haleyville Police Department.

In other action, the Council approved November general expenses of $311,217.37; advertising for bids for a weather siren at the North Industrial Park; appointed Scott Hunt as City Prosecutor, effective January 1 through June 60; and renewed a line of credit that has not been used.

The next meeting of the Council is Monday, January 7, 2013, 11 AM, at City Hall.
