Fire Causes Heavy Damage to Shop By Glenn Collins Monday, September 3, 2012 | 5:19 AM

Haleyville firefighters responded to a fully involved structure fire at Cherry Hill Road and AL13 Monday just after 1 AM and battled fire and small explosions for over four hours. Bear Creek, Delmar and Pebble fire departments were brought in to assist with the fire in a shop on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Haleyville remained on the scene after 5 AM putting out hot spots throughout the building. AL13 was shut down for over three hours while the blaze was brought under control.

City crews brought in sand to dam a ditch out of fear that hazardous materials were being carried away by water used to fight the fire.
