BEAR CREEK -- Last minute switches in the qualifying Tuesday evening for the Bear Creek election had one candidate changing places and one incumbent vacating his seat to run for another.
Don Lawler, the current councilmember from Place 5, is now running for Place 4. Mark Townsend, on the ballot as Lloyd Townsend, withdrew from Place 4 and qualified for Place 1. There are now three council places without incumbents: places 3, 4, and 5.
The last day to register to vote in the August 28 election is Friday, August 17. The ballot for August 28 is as follows:
