The Haleyville Board of Education approved the hiring of Mark Heaton as HHS Head Football Coach and AD at its meeting Tuesday night. Heaton currently holds the same position at Escambia County High School in Atmore, Ala. Heaton was hired in 2010 and coached his team to an AHSAA quarterfinal appearance in his first season. In 2011 his team finished 5-5. Heaton is expected in Haleyville later this week and offically begins May 1.

HHS Principal Roger Satcher said that over 100 people expressed an interest in the job vacated by Blaine Hathcock last month. Of those, 12 were interviewed. Four were given a second interview and presented to the board for a final decision.
