On Friday, April 13, Haleyville Police, acting on information that a convicted sex offender was living at an unregistered address, discovered a meth lab behind the residence at 728 Loda Avenue in Haleyville.
Police were investigating that Grady Morrison, 47, a convicted sex offender registered in Marion County, had been living on Loda Avenue for several weeks. When police arrived, "They detected an odor associated with a meth lab," Haleyville Police Chief Kyle Reogas said. The odor led them to a camper trailer behind the residence. There, a meth lab was discovered.
Morrison was arrested and charged with failure of a sex offender to verify place of residence and 2nd degree illegal manufacturing of a controlled substance.
Also present and arrested was Sidney Ray Stockman, Jr., 43, of Double Springs. He faces charges of 2nd degree illegal manufacturing of a controlled substance.
Both were booked and transported to Winston County Jail. The camper trailer was impounded by police, pending disposition of the court.
