US Marshals and local law enforcement are searching for Wendell Oneal Alvis Jr., 42, who escaped from an Alabama Department of Corrections work release program. Alvis was the driver of a community custody van and disappeared Tuesday afternoon after dropping off another inmate at a job site. The van was discovered Tuesday on Old Delmar Road. Alvis was serving a 12 year sentence for theft and burglary out of St. Clair County. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call police.
