A two-vehicle crash just before 6 a.m. Wednesday morning left the driver of Chevy pickup seriously injured. According to witnesses, Tommy Mitchell, 26 of Phil Campbell, was traveling south on 8th Avenue, (Dime Road) at a high rate of speed. Unable to stop his pickup collided with the right side of a northbound fully loaded tractor-box trailer truck on Highway 13 headed to Russellville. Mitchell had to be extracted by Haleyville firemen with the jaws-of-life. He was transported by ambulance to ECM hospital in Florence where his condition is unknown. The driver of the large truck shown above was uninjured.
