Haleyville Superintendent of Education Clint Baggett told the Board of Education Tuesday night, “This school opening has been one of the smoothest in years.” He added, “Thanks go to everybody.” In addition to the new Freshman Academy, the system has 40 more students than last year. The board approved the Capital Plan for 2010-11, moving all projects slated for this year to next because of proration.
The Board of Education also approved the following: minutes from the July regular session and the minutes from three special sessions conducted since the July meeting; expenditures for June and July, $1,181,679.37 and $1,260,728.17 respectively; Physical and Occupational Therapy Services Agreement with Lakeland Community Hospital; Substitute Teacher List; the budget for 2010-2011; payment for Errors and Omissions Liability Insurance for 2010-11, $3,619; and one field trip and six fundraisers.
The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, September 28, 7 PM.
