Freezing Fire

The home of James Hood, 2847 County Road 23 (Friendship Road), was totally destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning. The Pebble Fire Department was called out at 2:46 a.m. with a wind chill of 11 degrees. Just after 3, the Ashridge Fire Department was asked to assist and at 3:33 a.m., the Haleyville Fire Department was asked for manpower and tanker help. The house was fully involved when the Pebble firemen first arrived. Fighting the intense fire and cold, firemen were on the scene till after daylight. The house was a complete loss.
