The Haleyville City Council met Monday afternoon with all members present except Drew Thrasher. The Council approved the general operation bills in the amount of $548.163.24. Also approved was a change order for concrete behind the backstops at the new sports complex. One item was tabled, the purchase of trees for the sports complex. The council voted to list for sale the city-owned house on 19th Avenue which was declared as surplus property at the last council meeting. The July 4 meeting was rescheduled for July 12 because of the July 4th holiday.
Mayor Sunseri announced he will be a candidate for mayor for the election on August 23. The purpose of the election will be for electing a mayor and five councilmen. The election will also be for the purpose of electing Haleyville School Board members for Place 4 and Place 5 of the Haleyville City School System. More information on the election will be made in a separate story soon.
The next meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be on Tuesday, July 12 at the Haleyville City Hall.
