Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) Adult Education Director, Donald Sweeney recently received the Champion Award from the Alabama Adult Education Directors’ Association.
“I look at this, as an award for Northwest-Shoals Community College and the Adult Education program’s teachers and staff,” said Sweeney. “Our teachers and staff, they are the real ‘champions’ for our program and college.”
Sweeney has worked in education for 46 years and served as the NW-SCC Adult Education Director for the past 9 years. Previously, Sweeney served as the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
The Champion Award recognizes the Adult Education Director in Alabama that best acts as a defender and advocate for the Adult Education cause. Honorees are those who are known to enthusiastically support Adult Education, Adult Education Directors and Adult Education students in every way possible.
The Alabama Adult Education Directors’ Association presents three awards annually: Champions Award, Leadership Award and the Hall of Fame Award.
