A two-vehicle crash today, July 21, claimed the life of an Empire man. Curtis Conley Cole, 51, of Empire was killed when the 1999 Ford F350 in which he was a passenger collided head-on with a 2015 Dodge Ram. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F350, Raymond Jerome Johnson, 53, of Double Springs, and the driver of the Dodge Ram, Kevin M. Garner, 43, of Clyde, Ohio, were both airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. The crash occurred at 7:25 a.m. on Pineywoods-Sipsey Road, four miles north of Sipsey. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
