Chau Huynh, a 2014 graduate of Haleyville High School and Homecoming Queen 2013, is now a student at the University of Alabama, Huntsville where she is majoring in chemical engineering. Her parents are the former owners of TJ Nails in Haleyville. Her dad, Vinh Huynh, (Kevin), had to take the long way to become a citizen by passing a citizenship test, and he did so before Chau was 18. Thus, when Chau applied, she followed in his footsteps and just applied for citizenship, and waited almost a year for her application to be approved. She was called to do the Oath of Allegiance and once completed, she was given the paperwork to prove her citizenship. The photo says it all, Chau is now officailly a citizen of the United States. She was born and had early schooling in her native country of Viet Nam and speaks both English and Vietnamese fluently. |
