The city of Hackleburg is still recovering from the devasting F-5 tornado which struck the city on April 27, 2011. Many new homes have been built to replace the ones lost to the tornado. Wednesday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m., the ribbon will be cut for the grand opening of the Hackleburg Market, a brand new grocery store and the first since the tornado. The public is invited and Governor Bentley is planning to attend. Another Hackleburg business, Smoky J's BBQ, which was destroyed by fire January 8, will reopen on Monday, June 22. The Wranger Distribution Center was rebuilt and reopened last year, saving many area jobs. Since the tornado, The Vault Bakery Cafe has opened.
