The Haleyville City Council met with all members present Thursday in a rescheduled meeting from Monday. The council approved the general operation bills in the the amount of $356,772.79. Other items approved was a franchise agreement with Century Link, a one-time pay supplement for city employees (Christmas bonus) and an application for a CDBG grant for water and sewer line work in the Cripple Creek subdivision and the city's match for the grant. Approval was given for the hiring of Johnathon Wiley for the Street and Sanitation Department pending his passing his CDL test, at a starting wage of $11.03/hour. The mayor transferred Stacy Holley from part-time Class II dispatcher status to full-time Class II status effective June 6 with a pay adjustment to $11.53/hour. Nine lifeguards were also hired to work at the city pool for the summer at $7.25/hour. Hired were Anna Laine Godsey, Logan Dye, Kayleigh White, Kaci Moore, Jared Brimer, Maggie McGough, Natalie Epperson, Leslie Wright, and Cal Taylor. Ray Forester, father of Mark Forester, thanked the mayor and council for all the help provided by the city in the recent Mark Forester Price of Freedom Race. He stated there was an excellent turnout, and it would not have been possible without the help of the city, especially the police department providing escort. The next council meeting will be Monday, June 1. |
