The Haleyville City Council, with all members present met Monday for their regular bi-monthly meeting at the Neighborhood Facilities. The council approved a change order for the new fire department which will allow the purchase of a 65KW electrical general for $38,815.44. Plans are to utilize the existing smaller generator at Fire Station #2 at the airport.
The council also approved unneeded property, specifically a 2000 and a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria police cars. These vehicles will be sold to the highest bidder at a later date. The council also approved the purchase of a new tractor for the street department and advertising for bids for interior office and kitchen area for the new fire station #1. An approval of an appropriation of $1,500 to the American Red Cross was also made.
Mayor Ken Sunseri stated Tommy Marshall had been hired as a street and sanitation employee.
The next city council meeting will be Tuesday, February 17 at the Neighborhood Facilities Building.
