Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri announced the Safe Room in downtown Haleyville will open at noon Wednesday for anyone in need of a warm place. It will be a shelter from the cold and will remain open as long as needed. The weather forecast is calling for a low of 7 degrees overnight Wednesday. Wind chill values as low as -4. Winds out of the north 15 to 20 mph. Winds could reach as high as 35 mph. High for Thursday is below freezing at 27.
