Haleyville police officers responded to a Haleyville residence just off Newburg Road Saturday, December 20, to check the welfare of a small child who was thought to be present at 253 Carl Elliott Heights. There was no child present, however the officers detected the smell of meth manufacturing and asked to search the apartment. After being given permission, the officers discovered an active working meth lab, (shake and bake), as well as components to manufacture meth.
Ricky Keith Loveless, 39, and Sidney Jo Jacks, 29, were both arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance. Loveless was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Winston County jail. Bond for Loveless has been set at $1,506,000 and Jacks at $1,500,000.
