Friday afternoon at 2:15, a 2000 Kia, driven by Thomas Dawson, 51 of Double Springs reportedly rear-ended a 98 Ford driven by Robert Cordray, 35 of Haleyville in front of the Ashridge Fire Department on Highway 195. Leaving the scene of that accident, Dawson continued south on 195 and at 2:17 collided head-on with a 2001 Chrysler driven by Laura Rehling, 60 of Haleyville. Alabama State Troopers reported both Dawson and Rehling were transported by ambulance to the Lakeland Emergency Room. Neither had life threatening injuries. Air bags and break-away car parts prevented more serious injuries.

Just after 3 p.m. on Friday, an 05 Tacoma, driven by Jacob Rogers, 19 of Russellville, left 6th Avenue in the curve next to the railroad underpass. The pickup flipped over on its side and struck a tree. Jacob was shaken, but otherwise appeared to be uninjured. He recovered his fishing rods and still planned to go fishing, where he said he was heading before the accident.
