Memorial Day Fire

There was a structure fire at 110 7th Street in South Haleyville Monday around 11:30 a.m. The structure was a home that had been destroyed by fire in 2011. Wayne Purser, property owner, stated he was cleaning up the property from the previous fire, and a controlled burn pile spread into the remains of the home. He stated he called 9-1-1 and is very thankful for the speedy response of both the Haleyville and Delmar Fire Departments who were able to contain the fire and prevent further damage to the property.
