Haleyville City Board of Education

The Haleyville City Board of Education met Tuesday evening for the regularly scheduled April meeting, and all board members were present. The following items were approved.

  • board expenditures for March 2014 in the amount of $1,438,644.32
  • field trip request for drafting and design students and James White to attend Skills USA Conference in Birmingham April 24-25
  • field trip request for welding students and Dwayne Melton to attend Skills USA Conference in Birmingham April 24-25
  • declaration of portable Delta Sawbuck Frame and Trim Saw as surplus equipment
  • high bid of $505 for Printronix model printer previously declared as surplus equipment
  • bread bid for 2014-2015 school year to Piggly Wiggly (Steve Stott abstained from the vote.)
  • milk bid for 2014-2015 school year to Dean Dairy/Barber Milk
  • ice cream bid for 2014-2015 school year to Mayfield Dairy
  • Athletic Physical Day at HHS for May 5 (Athletes throughout Haleyville City Schools and surrounding school systems are eligible to attend. The cost is $10 per person.)
  • high bid of $835 for 10" Powermatic Table Saw
  • job descriptions for Director of Student Services, Director of Instructional Services, and Director of Administrative Services
  • field trip request for Forensic Club to attend Skills USA Conference in Birmingham April 24-25

The following personnel recommendations were made by Dr. Alan Miller and approved by the board.

  • retirement of Patricia Carter as second grade teacher at HES, effective June 1, 2014
  • retirement of Juanelle S. Howell as fifth grade teacher at HES, effective November 1, 2014
  • non-renewal of Kelley Hubbard as employee of Haleyville City Schools for the 2014-2015 school year (Barry Burleson voted no.)
  • non-renewal of Heath Guin as employee of Haleyville City Schools for the 2014-2015 school year
