Haleyville Elementary School teacher, Mindy Seymour, was presented with two awards from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Wednesday afternoon. She was selected as the recipient of the 2013-14 Smart/Maher V.F.W. National Citizenship Education Teacher Award at the elementary school level. This award was presented by Calvin Underwood, Senior Vice Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Seymour also received the 2013-14 District 1 Citizenship Education Teacher Award at the elementary school level, and that award was presented by Dwight Thomas of the V.F.W. Post 4543. In addition, Underwood noted three of the past six winners of the national award have been from Haleyville Elementary School. He also presented Principal Susan Riggs with an award for this honor. |
