Eighth grade pitcher Courtney Eddy got the start for the Lady Lions first home game of the season, and she earned the win for Haleyville. She pitched five and one third innings with three strikeouts, nine hits, one walk, and five earned runs. Senior pitcher, and Mississippi State signee, Holly Ward finished up the game for the Lady Lions, pitching one and two thirds innings with three strikeouts, no hits, and no earned runs.
Freshman Anna Laine Godsey was 4-5 with a single, two doubles, and a triple. She scored three runs and had three RBIs. Junior Payten Townsend went 2-2 with two walks and scored three runs. Ward was 4-5, with two doubles and two singles, with five RBIs. Senior Perri Gilbert was released for play Wednesday and went 3-5 in her season debut game. She hit a home run, had three RBIs, and scored two runs. Senior Tori Pendley was 2-5, scored two runs, and added an RBI to round out the game. Haleyville defeated Russellville 16-8.
