V.F.W. District and State Awards

District and state awards have recently been announced for several competitions by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4543. District awards are as follows. 

Voice of Democracy Winner-Andrew Townsend of Haleyville High School

Firefighter of the Year Gold Medal Winner- Tommy Springer of the Haleyville Fire Department

Kindergarten-Fifth Grade Teacher of the Year- Mindy Seymour of Haleyville Elementary School

Sixth-Eighth Grade Teacher of the Year- Lisa Cagle of Lynn School

State awards granted in our area are the following. 

Mindy Seymour of Haleyville Elementary School was selected as the Kindergarten-Fifth Grade Teacher of the Year for the State of Alabama. Mindy's nomination has been forwarded for judging in the National Teacher of the Year Competition, and she will be presented with her state award at the elementary school soon. 

Tommy Springer of the Haleyville Fire Department was awarded the Firefighter of the Year for the State of Alabama. His nomination has also been sent away for judging of the National Firefighter of the Year Competition. 

The V.F.W. Post 4543 congratulates all of these winners and wishes our state winners the best during the national competitions.
