With potential hazardous winter weather approaching the area, some area schools and businesses have opted to delay their opening Tuesday morning. At this time, these are the only known weather delays in our area.
--Franklin County Schools will open at 10:00 a.m.
--Russellville City Schools will open at 10:00 a.m.
--Northwest Shoals Community College will open at 10:00 a.m. Finals scheduled for Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. have been rescheduled for Thursday at 2:45 p.m.
--Winston and Marion Counties, as well as Haleyville City Schools will make a decision Tuesday morning as more information is available regarding the weather in the area.
--No information is available from Athens State University at this time.
Dr. Alan Miller, Superintendent of Haleyville City Schools, stated he has requested assistance with monitoring of road conditions from the Haleyville Police Department throughout the night. Dr. Miller stated no delays are expected for Haleyville at this time since conditions are not expected to be hazardous in the area. However, if the HPD finds unsafe roadway conditions, an alternative decision will be made Tuesday morning. Bear Creek Police Chief Shane Whitten also stated his officer will patrol the Bear Creek area as the weather moves into the area and will report hazardous conditions when/if they are found.
