The Haleyville Water Department might be moving to a new location soon. The Water Board will decide tonight whether or not to open bids for the project, and it is expected to pass. If bids are opened, the board will vote to accept a bid at the October meeting.
The Water Department is looking to move to the new location, regardless of the decision on the sale of City Hall. However, if City Hall is sold, the department will have six months to relocate, but the project is expected to take seven to eight months for completion. David Cox stated they will most likely move to the board room in the water warehouse located near Haleyville High School for a few months until the new building is completed. The new building will be located at the intersection of 22nd Street and Alabama Avenue, just across from the phone company. It will be accessible for the disabled and will have a drive-thru with night deposit. The entrance will be from 22nd Street and will exit onto Alabama Avenue.
