One Man’s Opinion

I write this opinion out of frustration and distain for what we as a society are quickly becoming (zombies).  We now allow a group of questionably soulless beaurocrats tell us what is acceptable, what is allowable, who we should trust, what we should say, how we should feel, and most importantly, what is the acceptable standard on how to live our lives.  Freedom and liberty are now just words batted around by political types to lull us into a sense of false security.

It saddens me to see how apathy and misguided intentions have led our officials to diminish the morals and freedoms that our country was founded upon all in the name of “progress and safety” for the people.  Many of our children have lost hope and now plan on being “kept” children of our government (at least until it collapses from the weight of the promises it can’t keep).

Daily, our morality and soul are diminished by the arrogance of our officials who “know what is best for us.”  As a society, we have lost a lot of the values on which this nation was founded.  Freedom and personal judgment have been replaced by Big Brother’s” will.  In God We Trust has been replaced with trust no one (except for the government officials who will tell us what we are to do).  Thomas Jefferson said it best when he wrote, “When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.”  The people are the only ones fearful any more.  Our founding fathers, if alive today, would at best be disgusted by what society has done with the guidance which they framed and at extreme perhaps revolt.

I fully expect reprisal and repercussions from this opinion because those in power are only fearful if their actions and judgments are questioned.  My request and hope is that anyone reading this opinion will try to reset their own morality and conscience.  Question those officials, both elected and appointed, and the decisions they make for our wellbeing.  Don’t live by what misguided bureaucrats tell you but rather by the voice in your soul that tells us all what is right.  Love your neighbor, trust your teachers, help those who are less fortunate than you are.   Please… judge not lest you be judged.  Government is not our keepers… we are each other’s greatest assets and my greatest hope.
