A Rock-a-thon was held on Tuesday evening by members of the Haleyville Roaring Lion Band. Students received pledges from family and friends to help offset marching band expenses such as band fees, shoes, uniform rental and cleaning and rocked through the evening at the Wakefield Furnishings building. Each student was responsible for bringing their own rocking chair, entertainment, food, and drinks, etc. that they would need. The event started on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm and concluded on Wednesday at Noon.
HHS band director Mr. Reggie Tolbert and chaperones commented that the evening was without problems and everyone seemed to have a good time. Mr. Tolbert, the Roaring Lion Band students, and the Haleyville Band Boosters thank everyone who contributed to a band student as well as Tommy and Sharon Tompkins for the use of the Wakefield Furnishings building for the evening.
The HHS band will be marching 100 plus students this fall. The first public performance will be at the HHS vs. Oak Grove football game, at home, on Friday, August 30 at 7:00 pm.
